ABOUT

Friday, 27th January | 19:30-20:30 | Attic of the Clockhouse
This evening, we will learn more about Rumi’s poetry through a recitation by Mehran, who has studied Rumi’s poems in the language they were orginally written in, Farsi.
Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī was a 13th century poet and Sufi mystic, whose poems are well known and admired across the world, even today. Mehran will read extracts of some of his works, both in Farsi and translated in English, and we will listen in meditative silence and reflect upon the deep meaning conveyed.
Afterwards, he will tell us more about his interpretations and the history of the poem, and we will discuss amongst ourselves our impressions, thoughts, and feelings.
Warm tea will be served.
Whether you are familiar with Rumi’s work, or are simply curious, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more and enrich your cultural horizons and cultivate your spiritual awareness.
